FACETS Sri Lanka 2027 set for 4 to 6 January at Cinnamon Life
The 34th edition of Sri Lanka's flagship gem and jewellery exhibition runs from 4 to 6 January 2027, with a theme built around the inclusions inside a sapphire.
The 34th edition of FACETS Sri Lanka will run from 4 to 6 January 2027 at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams in Colombo, organised by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association. The dates were announced at a press conference on 16 July 2026.
Organisers said the event will bring together over one hundred exhibitors, with buyers expected from the United States, Europe, the Middle East, India, China and Thailand. The association also announced dates for the three editions that follow, running to 2030.
A theme worth noticing
The announced theme is The Internal Work of Sapphire, Where Nature’s Secret Becomes Its Signature. It is built around the natural inclusions found inside Sri Lankan sapphire.
That is a more interesting choice than it first appears. Inclusions are usually treated as a defect to be minimised in marketing copy. In gemmology they are the opposite. They are how a laboratory establishes that a stone is natural rather than synthetic. They are often how origin is argued and how heat treatment is detected or ruled out.
Dates worth putting in a diary
The association also released dates for the following three editions. FACETS Sri Lanka 2028 runs 5 to 7 January, 2029 runs 4 to 6 January and 2030 runs 6 to 8 January. If you plan buying trips around trade calendars, that is four years of certainty in one announcement.
What this means if you are buying
If you are sourcing at volume or looking for a specific stone in person, January in Colombo remains the single most concentrated week in the Sri Lankan calendar. Organisers have listed a mine tour among the side events, alongside a port city tour and several networking sessions.
If you are buying one stone from abroad, the exhibition changes nothing about how you should check it. Report, report number, laboratory lookup, treatment stated in writing.
