Who we are

Bought at the source, cut in Sri Lanka

Ceylon Veritas Gems is a Sri Lankan house that buys direct from the source and sells to people who will not gamble on a gem they cannot hold. We are small on purpose. It keeps us close to every stone.

We buy where the stones come out of the ground, at the mines and gem markets of Ratnapura and Elahera, and we have each one cut and polished in Sri Lanka. Every stone is chosen by hand.

We only buy what we can send to an independent laboratory and stand behind, and if a stone will not pass that test, we leave it on the table.

Setting

Setting, if you want one

Most buyers take the stone loose. If you want it set, our Colombo workshop makes the mount and the stone stays with its report throughout.

  • Choose the stone first

The report is issued on the loose stone, before any setting.

  • Drawings in five working days

Two options, quoted to the gram of metal, no obligation.

  • Set in four to six weeks

Photographed before and after setting, report shipped with it.

Questions

Asked before you buy

If something is not answered here, write to Colombo and a gemmologist replies, not a template.

Write to Colombo

Yes. Every listing shows the laboratory, the full report number and a link to that laboratory's own lookup. The scan sits on the product page, above the description.

Yes, and they say heated in the same size and colour as the unheated ones. Heat is normal practice in the trade; hiding it is not.

Often. Tell us the hue, the size and the budget. We search the valley, report both stones separately and send them together.

It depends on the service. Sent by FedEx, we pay the import duties and there is nothing to settle on arrival. Sent by EMS, duties are not prepaid and your own customs authority collects them from you.

Fifteen days from delivery, where the stone materially differs from the one you bought or from its stated specifications. It comes back unset, with its report and the sealed packet, so it can be verified against the report; the refund follows to the original payment method within five working days.
